How much does a CNC machine hour cost?
It depends on the machine, the shop and the region. As a guide in Spain, a conventional CNC lathe or machining centre is billed at €35–70 per hour; multi-axis, twin-spindle or automated machines can exceed €90 per hour. The calculator uses the rate you enter, so the result reflects your shop, not a generic average.
How does batch size affect the price per part?
Setup (program, fixtures, tool setting, first part) is a fixed cost shared by all the parts in the batch. With 5 parts it can outweigh the machining itself; with 500 it almost vanishes from the unit price. That's why the calculator asks for the quantity and shows both the price per part and the batch total.
Does the price include material?
Yes. It is calculated from the required blank (bar, plate or billet with allowances), the density of the material chosen from the catalogue and the price per kilo you enter. If the customer supplies the material, just set the cost to zero.
Is it a firm offer?
No. It is a deterministic estimate (no AI) designed to quote quickly and soundly: machine times, setup, secondary operations and margin from your rates. The final offer depends on tolerances, finishes, inspection and the actual program, which you can validate with the cycle time calculator.
What data do I need to quote a machined part?
Blank or part dimensions, material, main operations (turning, milling, drilling, threading), batch quantity, your machine's hourly rate and the margin you want to apply. With that, the calculator returns the full breakdown.
Can I calculate the cycle time from the G-code program?
Yes. Paste or upload the program into the cycle time calculator, which estimates the cycle time with the same engine as the simulator, and send the result to the quote calculator with one click to quote with the program's real time.
Do I need to sign up to use the quote calculator?
No: the quote calculator is free and works without an account. With an account it also opens inside the app and keeps your rates and quotes between sessions.
