Interactive machining calculator

Live adjust Vc, diameter, RPM, feeds and pass time in milling, turning and drilling: linked scales, locks, material and power presets. Complements the cutting parameters calculator. No sign-up; the calculation runs in your browser.

Interactive milling, turning and drilling calculator: move any scale and the others align (Vc ↔ D ↔ n · fz · z → vf · lf → tc). Lock what you don't want to change. For the initial recommendation by material, use the cutting parameters calculator.

Interactive machining calculator (milling, turning and drilling)

Adjust Vc, diameter, speed, feed and pass time live — on a milling cutter, lathe or drill — without Excel sheets. Ideal after obtaining the recommendation in the cutting parameters calculator.

Three modes, linked quantities

In milling it links Vc–D–n–z–fz–vf–lf–tc; in turning and drilling, the feed is in mm/rev. Changing one value recalculates the dependent ones, and the lock pins what must not move.

From Vc to CNC program

Get S (RPM) and F to drop them into the G-code with one click, or take them directly to the CNC simulator and editor. The material catalog presets give you the starting point by ISO group and tool.

Your machine and the power

Set your machine's maximum RPM, feed and kW: whatever it cannot deliver is painted red. The chip section estimates Q and cutting power so you don't ask the spindle for more than it has.

Frequently asked questions

What is the interactive machining calculator?

It is a shop-floor calculator where Vc, diameter, RPM, feeds and pass time are linked: move any value and the rest recalculate instantly. It has three modes — milling, turning and drilling — with locks to pin whatever you don't want to change.

How are Vc, D and n (RPM) related?

n = (1000 · Vc) / (π · D). If you know two of the three (cutting speed, diameter or spindle speed), the calculator finds the third. Units: Vc in m/min, D in mm, n in 1/min. Applies equally to a milling cutter, a turned part or a drill.

How is vf feed calculated?

In milling: vf = fz · z · n (fz feed per tooth, z teeth). In turning and drilling: vf = f · n, with f in mm/rev. If you enter vf, fz (or f) is solved keeping the rest; with the lock you can pin whatever you don't want to change.

How is the machining time tc obtained?

tc = lf / vf (minutes). lf is the cutting distance including entries and exits (in drilling, the depth). If you set a target time, the distance equivalent to that progress is adjusted.

Where do the suggested values per material come from?

From the GetGCode materials catalog: you choose the material, the tool material (HSS or carbide) and the type of cut, and indicative Vc and feed are proposed. Always adjust for clamping, overhang and machine condition.

What does the chip and power section estimate?

The chip flow rate Q (cm³/min) and the cutting power P = Q·kc/60000 with an indicative kc per ISO group. If you indicate the kW of your spindle, it warns you when the cut requires more power than you have.

How is it different from the cutting parameters calculator?

The cutting parameters calculator recommends the starting point (Vc, feed, roughness, threading) by material and tool. This interactive calculator is for adjusting those quantities live at the machine: linked scales, locks, your machine's limits and pass time.

Can I use it on the workshop mobile?

Yes. The calculation runs in the browser, without registration. The latest values for each mode are saved on the device, and you can share a link that opens the calculator already set to your values.
