How to read Fanuc alarm codes

Keep the prefix: PS, SV, OT and SP help distinguish program, servo, travel-limit and spindle alarms. A number without its prefix can point to another family. Use this index to look up Fanuc alarm codes and review causes and checks before deciding whether to inspect the program or involve maintenance.

Program and memory

For a PS alarm, save the highlighted block and its program context. For format errors, review changes in that block; for insufficient memory, check storage and program backups before deleting anything. PS0010 and PS0070 concern different problems even though both belong to the PS family.

Servo, limits and spindle

For SV0410, record the indicated axis and whether the fault appears at rest or during a movement. OT alarms require the axis position and that machine’s limit-recovery procedure. For SP alarms, retain the spindle drive message too. Do not interchange recovery procedures between these families.

Control series and machine builder

Record the Fanuc series, machine model and any subcode. Machine and PMC messages may depend on the builder. Use Fanuc documentation and support to locate the matching manual; a general list cannot replace this identification.

Official documentation

Choose the manual matching your control series, software version and machine builder. A support portal is a starting point; it does not establish applicability to every model.

Alarms by control brand

Every control numbers and describes its alarms in its own way. Go into the brand of your machine to see the full list with the meaning of each code.
